It is full steam ahead for the golf complexes on the northern parts of Black sea. The work is going forward for three of the projects in which 260 million euros have been invested.

Kavarna’s mayor is proudly talking about the “Tration Kliffs & SPA resort” project. This new Bulgarian golf complex has input more than 100 million euros towards the local Municipality. The project will be fully finished in 2010 and since the start of building works has played the role of a “tank engine” stimulating more developments in the area. Many holiday villages were built such as “Wind & Paradise” and “Kaliakria”. The apartments around the Bulgarian golf courses are sold at a minimum of 1000Euros per sq.m. and the owners are mainly Russians, Bulgarians and some Westerners. Locals are literally calling down blessings on the luxury developments as they have rescued them from unemployment.

Neighbouring Shabla has also the ambitions to develop the golf tourism of Bulgaria. The Municipality is part of “Shabla golf Vaklino”Plc and “Shabla Marina”Plc in partnership with “Bulgarian Golf Society” and “Rost invest”. Another golf project at the Black sea belongs to “Shabla Golf Ezerets” valued for 40 million euros. The mayor has informed that these new for the Bulgarian market complexes will be started next year and will offer quality and luxury tourism.

Balchik is also catching up with the new tendencies of the Bulgarian property market and Bulgarian tourism.  At the moment one of the places to golf in Bulgaria is “Lighthouse Golf Resort & SPA” situated on top of the cliffs. The other 18 hole golf course is “Black Sea Rama” operating since September 2008. The mayor Mr Angelov has also announced the third project of this kind for Balchik – “Panoramika” which is to be built over 986 dka land with 60 million euros and to offer luxury detached houses and a hotel.

Apart from the already mentioned golf complexes on Black sea, there are further six around the country and two new projects awaiting approval.

Investing in Bulgarian golf complex tends to be one of the safest investment steps at the moment as this tourist niche is yet to be extended and developed. This is not a just fashion to die away but a sport with traditions. The golf facilities assume the development of quality and stable tourism in Bulgaria.

The country has the very good chance to become one of the very attractive golf destinations in Europe. The natural benefits include mild climate, plenty non-agricultural land, a variety of terrain lays and water recourses.

Current State strategies for the development of golf tourism in Bulgaria include simplifying the legal procedures and the opportunity for land to be rented in order to cut down on the initial outgoings.
