Four Golden Rhyta and a Great Gold Prize were awarded to the best Bulgarian wines that participated at the national wine testing competition, reported Plamen Mollov, chair of the Bulgarian Wine and Vine Chamber at the start of the Vinaria exhibition within Plovdiv International Fair. Only one wine a year was awarded the Golden Rhyton for the last two years.
"The export of Bulgarian wine has grown by an average of 21% for a year," said Dimitar Peychev, Bulgaria's Deputy Minister of Agriculture at the inauguration of the exhibition.
The greater part of the export - 30% goes to the Russian market, On March 30 a delegation from the Russian Ministry of Economy arrives to Bulgaria to discuss ways for transporting Bulgarian wines to Russia, according to Plovdiv Fair director, Georgi Gergov.
"By April, 2008, over 10 million euro will be allotted for restructuring of the vineyards in Bulgaria," announced Dimitar Tadarakov, head of Agriculture State Fund.
The sum to be allotted stands at a total of 15,800,000 euro. It is expected that by June the funds granted under the program for development of the agrarian regions will be abounding for the financial package for a seven-year period for Bulgaria stands at a total of 166 million euro. Part of the money can be absorbed as investments in the sphere of vinegrowing, wine production and wine promotion.
"By June, a National Program for Support of Vinegrowing and Wine Production in Bulgaria for the period 2009-2013 will be adopted, thus giving the start for the absorption of these funds," explained Dimitar Peychev.
