The Bulgarian National Guard has existed since 1879, but it was only this year that it made its first appearance in a foreign capital. And what a capital! The military unit was among 27 national guards from all the EU’s member states who were to march on the Champs Elysees. The procession was part of the celebrations of the French national holiday, 14 July, the day of the Storming of the Bastille.
