Bulgarian Dynamic Shooting
What should Bulgarians, who like shooting galleries boring and hunting cruel, do? Their traditional solution often hits the headlines. They go to a party, get drunk on rakiya and then begin shooting in the air, sometimes causing “collateral damage”.
There is an alternative to this practice. Dynamic shooting, or IPSC as it is better known, is a young sport that originated in the United States. The idea is to shoot at targets but on a course similar to the décor of a Hollywood action movie and with the movements typical of this genre. Although the sport is only three years old in Bulgaria it’s now so popular that an international IPSC contest was held in Veliko Turnovo. It attracted over 100 participants from Greece, Serbia, the Czech Republic, Slovakia and Poland. Bulgaria took part with a team from the National Military University .
